Nuadthai
This training took place on 9 June 2022 and was led by NyföretagarCentrum Öresund. Eight persons attended. The training covered the basics of starting a business in Sweden, employees’ rights, types of employment in Sweden and employment contracts. After the training, participants were encouraged to schedule a meeting with an expert from the NyföretagarCentrum to discuss any additional questions they may have. The service is free of charge.
We had our last workshop with our Nuad Thai members on August 16, 2022. Staff from NyforetagarCentrum Öresund came to our workshop and we discussed about how we can support our employees e.g. work environment and collective agreements. In addition, what support can employer’s receive. We looked into the cost of hiring staff and what applies if an employee becomes ill.
Before the workshop ended Mr. Alan, owner of a massage salon in Malmö, told us about how to get employees from Thailand.
A three-day Nuad Thai training course was carried out from 10 – 12 June 2022. The training took place outside Trelleborg city. The training was led by three instructors from the Holistic Thai Sappaya Akademy, Germany.
This is a 30 hour certification training program. Part of the training includes testing to ensure participants can properly demonstrate putting knowledge into practice.
Normally, a full certification program lasts 150 hours including 60 hours of theory, 30 hours of classroom training, and 60 hours of practice in an actual massage setup. We have made the option of completing 150 hours available to participants who are interested. Participants will be guided and supported by the Sappaya team. A Facebook group was created to continue this discussion and provide a venue for participants to ask further questions and clarify what they had learned. If they completed 150 hours, they would get another certification.
The training started with relaxation exercises to ensure participants were calm and focused. There are several videos taken during the course which could be found on ThaiWISE’s Facebook page at ThaiWISE Malmö. Below are a few photos from the course. Participants were paired up to take turns practicing on each other’s bodies. The pairs were switched every day to make sure they were familiar with different body types.
On April 11, 2022 we had a one-day workshop with our Nuad Thai certification members. We discussed how they could acquire and build relationships with their customers and use social media to promote their businesses.
On November 28, 2021, we had an opening ceremony for the ”Certification Project for Nuad Thai Operations: The Malmö Model” with ThaiWISE and Noomi – Hela Människan. Participants during the day included H.E. Mrs Kanchana Patarachoke – Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden, Carina Nilsson – Mayor/ Chairman of the City Council, Malmö, Sedat Arif – Deputy Major for labour market and social services (S), as well as officials from the city of Malmö, representatives from NyföretagarCentrum and people working in Thai massage salons in Malmö.
Nine salons that are participants in the certification project received a diploma and a certification logo that confirms that the salon has undergone the necessary training, is approved by the environmental administration, and conducts an ethical business model developed by ThaiWISE.
